Transportation

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB) has conducted a comprehensive traffic study for Meadow Walk.  The Town of Lynnfield has hired an independent consultant to review VHB's work and provide an independent evaluation to the Town. VHB has presented concepts at the January and February Town-wide forums.

The transportation engineers have concluded that proposed roadway mitigation will both improve existing conditions and will account for new trips generated by Meadow Walk.  Traffic congestion and unsafe turning movements that exist today will be greatly improved when the mitigation is put in place.

From GPI, Town of Lynnfield's Independent Reviewers:  "The (proposed) improvements will mitigate the traffic impacts of the project, as well as address some of the existing deficiencies that exist at these locations."

From Chief of Police Paul Romano: "In my opinion, the final plans represent the best solution within means available for improving the traffic pattern at the intersections in question and for handling the anticipated increase in traffic to be generated by the Meadow Walk project. Even if the project were not to be constructed, the changes proposed would have a very beneficial effect on traffic currently using the intersections in question. In other similar projects that I have compared their numbers with, the actual counts have been about 40 percent less than the numbers supplied in the initial study. No one can adequately predict every contingency but I am satisfied that the firms of VHB and GPI have done their best to do so."
